This week’s spotlight shines on Michael Gordon, BluStream’s VP of Product. From customer calls and feature mockups to the occasional bit of coding, no two days are the same for Michael and that’s just how he likes it. What drives him most is seeing customers light up over features that started as ideas on a whiteboard. He’s especially intrigued by how AI can make complex tools more human, and he's keeping a close eye on how LLMs are shaping intuitive design. Outside of work, Michael is an adventurer at heart spending weekends hiking the Colorado wilderness or diving into collaborative roleplaying games with friends.
VP of Product. My day can vary significantly. Often I'm on customer meetings to help onboard or discuss newly released and prospective features. Other days I'm working on documentation, mockups, or proof of concepts. If I'm lucky, I get to try out new features or write code.
Seeing customers get excited about new features we have planned or new features we've released. It's rewarding when we've worked hard to understand our customers' needs and our product resonates with them.
LLMs are a very exciting technology. In particular, I'm most excited about AI's potential to make complex user interfaces more intuitive. Talking to the computer in Star Trek is so fluid. I can't wait until that's real life.
No one at BluStream works in a silo. We're extremely transparent about our successes and struggles. Whenever someone is stuck, there are always people who volunteer to help. Whenever someone succeeds, we all celebrate their win.
There's a great Brazilian steakhouse in Worcester that the entire company goes to after board meetings called Pampas. I really enjoy eating together after reflecting about the past quarter.
Shrinking is my favorite tv show in the past year. I could never decide what my all time favorite is. There are too many options!
I love hiking on the weekends. I'm lucky to live in Colorado where there's so much of wilderness to explore.
I love playing roleplaying games (like D&D) and collaborative storytelling. It can be freeing to pretend to be someone else and just be ridiculous with friends.
